United airlines flight emergency landing: A  flight from Lagos, Nigeria, to Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia developed a sudden issue mid-air on Friday. Two crew members and four passengers were hurt in the process. The plane had to return to Lagos for an emergency landing. The victims were rushed to a hospital near the airport. All six of them have been discharged, United Airlines spokesperson Leslie Scott has declared in a statement.

Passengers on the flight took videos as the cabin was in a mess, with food trays and other things on the ground. It is not known why the plane shook so violently, but United Airlines reported that severe turbulence was not involved. The airline also reported that it is cooperating with Nigerian and American aviation authorities to determine what occurred.

FlightRadar24 data indicated that the flight, which was UA613, began a steep descent around 93 minutes after takeoff. According to reports, the plane sharply fell by 1,000 feet around 89 minutes after takeoff. The same aircraft had to make a diversion on Tuesday when it was flying from Lagos to Washington, but it is yet to be determined if the two incidents are related.

The Friday flight carried 245 passengers, three pilots, and eight flight attendants. Passengers were informed by the airline that it was attempting to reserve them on alternative flights.

Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of Nigeria's Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), confirmed the occurrence to Radio Nigeria. He said no one lost their life and hotel rooms were provided to passengers following the emergency landing.

The plane used was a Boeing 787. The aircraft had been the subject of inquiry by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) after a comparable incident in March last year when a Latam Airlines flight nosed-dived mid-flight. The previous accident had been caused by a mechanical fault on the pilot's seat, making it slide forward and impinge on the flight controls, leading to a nose-dive.

After the Latam incident, Boeing directed 787 operators to inspect the cockpit seat switches to ensure this does not happen again.
