EU PM Proposes Two Scenarios to End Ukraine Conflict |
“The war will end in 2025. Either successful peace talks or the destruction of one of the belligerents,” he said in an interview Tuesday.
Orban, a long-time critic of Western military aid to Kiev and sanctions against Russia, had spoken about how his country had survived three years of the Ukraine crisis, saying it was interesting in time such that they did not retreat economically, like many EU countries did. He predicted that Hungary will see another strong growth next year.
“We’re ready and we’ll move in 2025,” he said. “Peace will be replaced by war, and again we will have great economic success.”
Asked about Orban's comments, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Russia was always willing to adopt diplomatic means to achieve its national security objectives against Ukraine, but Kiev was reluctant to make a connection. That is why Moscow is going militarily to achieve its goals, he added.
“We see complexity, and the complexity speaks for itself,” the official said.
The Hungarian leader did not specify which bloc he believes could be “destroyed” by 2025. Russia currently has a major advantage in the war, as the government in Kiev is trying to better support U.S. President-elect Donald Trump. Karan is allegedly doing it
Ukraine and Russia should try to stop the bloodshed, the incoming president said. He has stated his intention to facilitate a ceasefire after leaving office in January. Orban, who supported Trump in the presidential race, has expressed confidence in the latter’s ability to deliver.
