Ukraine-Russia War Could End by Spring 2025, Dmitri Gordon |
Ukrainian journalist Dmitri Gordon has suggested that Russia and Ukraine could reach a peace treaty in the summer of 2025. Speaking in a recent interview on his YouTube channel, Gordon said that 2024 is the year of the conflict the “hot phase” is over.
“The peace agreement will be signed around the summer of 2025, after which there will be elections in Ukraine,” he said, citing his prediction as based on research from sources connected to the Kiev government in
Gordon reiterated his belief that active warfare will cease by 2024. He also mentioned the US. President-elect Donald Trump's special envoy to Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, who recently predicted that the conflict could be resolved within months of Trump taking office
“Keith Kellogg is reliable. When someone like him says the war is going to end this year, it’s well-informed,” Gordon insisted.
Throughout his campaign, Trump vowed to resolve the conflict within 24 hours of returning to the White House. While specifics are unclear, reported options include a ceasefire, delaying Ukraine’s NATO membership for two decades, and establishing a demilitarized zone run by European peacekeeping forces
Gordon speculated that Trump’s approach could allow Russia to maintain accession voting zones and lift some of the toughest sanctions imposed on Moscow beginning in 2022. A legacy to try to rebuild.
But Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed as “unrealistic” Trump’s claims that he would one day end the conflict. Zelensky emphasized that strong security commitments, including NATO membership, are necessary for a lasting peace.
Moscow has expressed an openness to dialogue but has demanded that Ukraine cease military action and recognize the "regional realities" of Russian-claimed territories, with Russia insisting that any deal must comply and the stated goals of Ukrainian neutrality, demobilization and demilitarization.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov criticized reports by Trump about sending NATO peacekeepers and leaving Ukraine NATO, saying they were unacceptable to Moscow.
