Musk Calls Biden's Actions Treasonous |
Elon Musk has labeled President Joe Biden’s actions as “treasonous,” claiming the President has allowed an influx of illegal migrants into the U.S. and auctioned materials intended for the U.S.-Mexico border wall. This criticism aligns with long-standing accusations from former President Donald Trump and Republicans, who argue that Biden has failed to enforce border security, particularly along the southern border.
The controversy reignited in mid-December when The Daily Wire reported on X that the Biden administration was selling materials originally designated for the border wall—a project initiated during Trump’s presidency but paused under Biden. This report triggered widespread online backlash, with many users accusing the administration of compromising border security and violating legal obligations.
One X user, @EndWokeness, highlighted what they viewed as Biden’s shortcomings in a post, demanding accountability for the sale of border wall materials “for just $5 a piece,” the removal of razor wire fences and river barriers, and the alleged issuance of “94 executive orders to open the border.” The user asserted, “This administration didn’t fail to secure the border. They deliberately opened it. IT WAS TREASON.” Musk echoed this sentiment, responding with “100% treason” in a subsequent post.
When President Biden took office, one of his early priorities was to undo many of the immigration policies enacted during Trump’s presidency, most notably stopping the construction of the U.S.-Mexico border wall. However, as the number of illegal crossings surged and criticism of his border management grew, Biden shifted toward stricter measures. For example, in June of last year, he introduced a policy that temporarily halts asylum processing at the Mexican border when daily unauthorized crossings exceed 2,500.
Meanwhile, a legal dispute has been brewing for years over what to do with the leftover materials from the halted border wall project. The Biden administration has maintained that the stockpiled steel beams and other supplies are no longer necessary and that storing them is a financial burden. In 2023, Congress sided with this view, directing the Department of Defense to “use, transfer, or donate” the excess materials.
However, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton challenged the legality of this decision, filing a lawsuit to stop the further sale or disposal of the materials. On December 27, Paxton successfully obtained a temporary injunction, blocking the Biden administration from getting rid of the remaining supplies for the next 30 days. This ruling effectively leaves the decision about the materials to former President Trump, who is set to return to the White House on January 20.
Trump celebrated the court’s decision, calling it a “major, crucial WIN for America, and our National Security” in a post on his Truth Social platform. He criticized Biden and his administration for dismantling the border wall project and pledged to resume his efforts to strengthen border security by completing the wall.
